A Mission Built
on Science.
Driven by Purpose.
Duncan Ross, Ph.D.
FOUNDER & CEO, Kimera Labs
For more than a decade, Dr. Duncan Ross has pursued a singular mission: to advance the understanding of exosome biology and build the science, technology, and infrastructure needed to move the field forward.

WHERE THE MISSION BEGAN
A Personal Motivation Became a Scientific Pursuit
When Dr. Ross’s father was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia, the experience inspired a deeper pursuit of the science behind cellular biology, immunology, and regenerative research.
That pursuit led Dr. Ross to the University of Miami, where he received advanced training in biochemistry and immunology and ultimately earned his Ph.D. His scientific interests would eventually lead him toward one of biotechnology’s emerging frontiers: extracellular vesicles and exosomes.
A LASTING INSPIRATION
The Influence of a Remarkable Man
Duncan Baker Ross, Jr. was a world renowned and published oceanographer and “hurricane hunter” specializing in wind, wave and atmospheric conditions with esteemed governmental and academic institutions including NOAA, the University of Miami Rosenstiel School of Marine and Atmospheric Sciences, and the Martin Marietta Corporation, as well as collaborations with NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory, the Naval Research Lab and the Walter Reed Army Institute of Research.
A man of honor and integrity, he was a loving family man and an inspiration to many. His curiosity, passion for science, and compassion for others continue to inspire the work at Kimera Labs.

FROM VISION TO KIMERA LABS
Building What Didn’t Exist
In 2012, Dr. Ross founded Kimera Labs with a vision to advance the scientific understanding, isolation, production, and characterization of mesenchymal stem cell-derived exosomes.
What began as an ambitious scientific pursuit has grown into the world’s first dedicated exosome biotechnology facility built around research, advanced analytics, manufacturing, characterization, education, and continued innovation.
Today, Kimera operates from its 27,000-square-foot cGMP exosome-dedicated campus in Miramar, Florida, supporting the continued advancement of exosome science.

10+ YEARS
ADVANCING EXOSOME SCIENCE
THE MISSION CONTINUES
Discovery
Continue exploring exosome biology and new areas of scientific investigation.
Innovation
Develop technologies that advance exosome production, isolation, haracterization, and application.
Quality
Establish rigorous standards for manufacturing, characterization, consistency, and scientific integrity.
Education
Share knowledge and support greater scientific understanding among researchers, professionals, partners, and the broader community.
The Work Is Just Beginning
From a personal search for answers to the creation of a biotechnology company dedicated to exosome science, Dr. Ross’s journey has always been driven by the same belief:
“Scientific progress begins by asking better questions — and having the determination to find the answers.”
